Jerry Power paints very realistic landscapes, working
outdoors as often as possible. Although he does paint
in oils, he favors pastels when painting in the field
because he finds them easier to handle. Power paints
scenes with strong shadows so he creates most of his
landscapes in the early morning or late afternoon. These
are the times the landscapes seem to pull him in. He
shares those moments with the viewer which may never
come again to spark an awareness that nature is both
beautiful and fragile. His sense of realism is his way
of honoring creation itself.
