SLAW, the artist formerly known as
Kevin Stanislawski (Dearborn),
is a rising star in the growing pop art scene which has taken
Detroit by storm. Though determined to create artworks devoid of
politics and social commentary, his fun loving subjects from the
late 50's and early 60's speak to us today about who we are and
where we come from – a Detroit Metro Retro! Says Slaw,
"this era represents to me America at its best and most
decadent. It seemed that everyone had a high-ball in one hand
and a smoke in the other. It was a time when ‘happy hour'
meant something." Slaw studied at the Center for
Creative Studies and is also a designer at Ford Motor Company.
