Amanda Maniscalco, a framer by profession, asked the simple question, "what could I do with the materials I work with to express myself as an artist." Her mat board assemblages are eloquent in construction, conceptually fresh and unpretentious. Her mentor-ship with Jac Purdon, a modern master of conceptualism, has lead to an outpouring of simple yet powerful ideas which are nothing short of "cutting edge." Keri Guten Cohan of the Detroit Free Press described her work as both "elegant and formal."
