Dorothy Lee Barnett Arraignment

Aside from the historical significance of this notorious, unsolved mystery finally being resolved, another piece of Charleston history was made on Monday, September 29, 2014. So far as I know, I was the first court sketch artist to sketch at the Federal Court in Charleston (Let me know if that is not true).

What a case on which to make my debut as a court sketch artist! I had FIVE minutes (talk about quick sketch art?) to draw Dorothy Lee Barnett, who was extradited this weekend from Australia, after kidnapping her child 20 years ago and fleeing to Belize and various other parts of the world. She was arraigned in Federal Court in Charleston today and I am grateful I was there to capture it. A very exciting day indeed.

Here’s the sketch
