Looking Down King Street

Looking Down King Street, 24″ x 18″ oil on panel

Looking Down King Street is a continuation of my Iconic Charleston Series. The painting was begun au plain air and finished in my studio. We are Looking Down King Street from the perspective of someone searching for the answer to what is beyond. It encapsulates the thought of being somewhere other than where we are. I added a rainbow because I have experienced so many on King Street. Rainbows are filled with hope and expectation of something better, waiting just beyond. This rainbow I observed with my son the other day while driving. I almost got in an accident trying to capture the image for this painting in my mind. It is faint; I’m trying to be subtle, which is not usually my thing.
